Check Out the Darkest Backdrop Available
Enhance your studio with the world's darkest backdrop — check out the Musou Black Fabric Kiwami.
When taking photographs of a studio subject, separation between the subject and the background is vital to making the photos stand out. This can be hard if you have limited space, but there is a solution — a really, really dark backdrop.
Musou Black Fabric Kiwami
From KoPro comes the fabric Musou Black Fabric Kiwami, which bounces less than 0.1 % of the light it receives back towards the camera, thanks to an effective diffusion fabric.
See it in Action
If you're interested in seeing how the fabric performs in live situations, check out the video below:
As you can see, it's very much a usable fabric that does just what it's supposed to. Amazing performance at a good price — a fine deal for anyone looking for a black quality backdrop for a compact studio.
Fabric Specifications
The specifications of the Kiwami fabric from KoPro are the following:
- Visible Light Absorption Rate: 99.905 %
- Visible Light Reflectance Rate: 0.095 %
The Absorption Rate is how much of the light is absorbed by the fabric, and the Reflectance Rate is how much light is reflected. As you can see, the absorption rate of 99.905 % leaves only 0.095 % of the light reflecting back to the camera — an insane number, and it makes the fabric very useful.

Benefits of a Dark Backdrop
This is especially useful in a limited space, such as a small VLOG studio or office where you might not be able to flag the lights to get the results you need.
In most cases you need a long distance from the lit subject and the backdrop in order to be sure that no light gets bounced back, making the backdrop visible. This might not be possible in small spaces and therefore you'll need extensive blocking of the light using flags — or simply by using a really dark backdrop, like this one.
